January 14, 2021
Good Afternoon LHS Families,
With the steady rise in COVID-19 cases within our county, and in consultation with the Three Rivers Health District, we want to let you know that Lancaster County Public Schools has decided to cancel participation in Virginia High School League (VHSL) winter sports for the 2020-21 school year. We will continue to monitor local health data, referencing our LCPS Daily Sports Participation Criteria, to determine participation in the remaining sports seasons. We will work creatively with our winter sports athletes needing additional sports requirements for college athletics on a case by case basis.
This decision is not one that we made lightly. We will continue to make decisions about the safety of our students, staff and community that are data based. When we look at the measures we are taking on a daily basis to keep the community safe, through virtual learning and school closures based on COVID-19 cases, it would be inadvisable to support bringing students in to participate in athletics at this time. We are the fourth of the six school divisions in our district to make the difficult decision to cancel winter sports.
We do realize the importance of exercise and healthy habits in our students’ daily lives. We strongly encourage not just our athletes, but all of our students to continue to participate in healthy activities. We will continue to monitor VDH/CDC School Metrics Data for decisions regarding the upcoming fall and spring sports schedules. As always, our number one priority is the safety of our staff and students.
Thank you!

Good Morning LCPS Families.
At the moment, Google is experiencing a nationwide outage. This may result in slower load times, trouble logging into Canvas, and limited access to email.
LCPS instruction is asynchronous, which means our students do not have specific times to log in and can do so at any time. We understand that this is out of our student's control and will be flexible as Google works through this problem.
