As you may know, Lancaster County Public Schools is in the process of renovating the middle school building to become the future home of Lancaster Elementary School which will house Kindergarten through sixth grade. We want this building to not only provide an ideal learning environment but want it to be a representation of our community as a whole. As we plan for some of the visual aspects of the future elementary school, we are seeking local photography of the Chesapeake Bay, Rappahannock River, Corrotoman River, Carters Creek, Fleets Bay or any of Lancaster County's shorelines to bring our beautiful coastal county inside of the school. Rather than order a pre-made wall mural, we would like to collaborate with a local resident who has an iconic photograph. We would print the winning photograph/s on large vinyl wall murals that would adhere to the walls in the hallways. Not only will this make the school beautiful and appealing to the eye, but the image would be relevant as well as educational. What better way for our children to learn of their home’s waterways than to be immersed in it throughout their day at school? All are welcome to enter an iconic photograph that you have taken and have it viewed by all Lancaster County Elementary students for years to come!!
