On Friday, October 18th, many businesses and community members, also known as our “Hometown Heroes” visited Lancaster Elementary School to share their careers with students. Students had an opportunity to hear first hand what it takes to pursue various careers and ask questions from the experts. Our 7th grade students also learned about opportunities they will have in Lancaster High School to further explore their future career pathway and determine what they want to do when they graduate high school.
As students learn about careers based on their personal interests, they can begin to plan if they want to be employed, enlisted, or enrolled after high school. We call this the 3 E’s and it is a guiding principle that is used to plan courses and experiences for students.
Participants included: Bay Internists, Belle Isle State Park, Bon Secours Lively Medical Center, Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, Branch Builds, Carousel Physical Therapy, Chesapeake Bank, Chesapeake Homes, Dehnert, Clarke, & Co., PC, Dunn-Rite Auto Group, ERUdyne Inc., Etudes Ballet School, Friends of the Rappahannock, Healthy Harvest, Lancaster High School JROTC, Kilmarnock Police Department, Lancaster County Government, Lancaster County Public Library, Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Lancaster High School Guidance Department, Lancaster High School Summer Interns, Motion Studios, Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, Northern Neck Partners for Pets, RAL Art Center, Randall Kipp Architecture, Inc., RedLaw Mechanical, The Audiology Offices, The Local Scoop Magazine, Town of Kilmarnock, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department, Virginia House Delegate Member Hillary Pugh Kent, and When Ordinary Won't Do.
