February is Career & Technical Education Month in Virginia and Lancaster High School is celebrating our senior CTE students. We have interviewed some our 12th grade students and had them share their experiences with CTE and what advice they would offer to younger students.
Khalil Redmond
Khalil Redmond is a senior at Lancaster High School. He is currently enrolled in the Electrician Program at the Northern Neck Technical Center. Khalil was inspired by his father who was an electrician. Khalil enjoys the opportunity to work with his hands and knows that he will have many job opportunities once completing the program.
Khalil would tell younger students to pay attention in class and that classes he took at Lancaster High School were important in success in his current program. He shared how he reads charts, graphs, and uses formulas to understand steps in a process when working with electrical jobs. Reading directions carefully and following them as written are important to both safety and success.
Khalil reported that being in the program through the NNTC has “opened his eyes” to how he can apply his skills with electricity in the real world. He is confident the electrical industry is a great career option for him.
LHS is proud of Khalil and his work with CTE. He has a bright future ahead of him!
